Fiber Arts

The art of working with fibers involves the use of materials such as fabric and yarn. People who knit, crochet, weave, and make felt animals gather at fiber arts festivals (where it is not uncommon to see yarn being spun directly from the coat of an angora bunny) around the country each year. Many fiber art projects take lots of time to complete. For example, crocheting a scarf can take 3-5 hours. The Innovation Studio features sewing machines, a serger, embroidery, and crocheting supplies. Students can explore other facets of fiber arts by taking part in community activities.

Check out the Sewing Center or the Embroidery and Crochet section for information about the machines and materials we have available for your use.
