The Innovation Studio has three Makerbot Replicator+ 3D printers.
The Innovation Studio use PLA (plastic or polylactic acid) filament, a vegetable-based plastic material which commonly uses cornstarch as raw material. We have White, Beige, Gray, Black, Purple, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red filaments available, which can be seen on the right of this page. The Replicator+ can only print in one color of filament at a time.
We are able to print STL or OBJ files. You can browse 3D file repositories such as Thingiverse, Sketchfab, or YouMagine to find a file to print.
A patron can bring their own file in the correct format and use it on the Makerbot print program to make a model. We currently do not offer assistance on creating your own model, but we have provided a variety of free and open-source resources on the left for you to explore and create on your own.
All print jobs have to comply with policies of the Innovation Studio. The Innovation Studio staff reserves the right to reject any projects that may explicitly or implicitly violate these policies.
Currently, there is a 6 hour limit on print jobs. We are asking patrons not to start a long print job the day before a school holiday or long weekend. Currently, the Innovation Studio is not open on weekends.
Also, the Innovation Studio has its own Thingiverse account! We post all our models we print from Thinigverse, so check it out if you want to stay up-to-date with what we're making!
