The Research, Engagement, and Faculty Support (REFS) Department of Xavier University of Louisiana Library's mission is to provide comprehensive services that support the research needs, scholarly engagement, and professional development of faculty, staff, and students. This includes offering assistance with research resources, tools and strategies for research, fostering collaboration within academic communities, and promoting faculty engagement with library resources to enhance teaching, learning, and research.

This mission is met through:

Embedded librarian presence in Brightspace courses
In-depth research consultations for students, faculty, and staff
Customized workshops on topics related to research practice
Consultations on open education and open access resources

Service Requests

Research Support

Advanced Research Workshop
For advanced research workshops in your course or as an open library event. Advanced research topic examples include conducting a literature review, dissertation research support, or data visualization/analysis.
Embedded Librarian
For a librarian to be added to your Brightspace course for student point of need research support or tailored asynchronous research instruction.
Research/Data Services Consultation
For 1-1 support in literature reviews, data visualization, data curation, data analysis, data preservation, publication/presentations, or OER.

Lab Spaces

AR/VR Lab Reservation
To reserve the AR/VR lab for one of your classes or for students to drop in and work on individual projects. Note: This form is for the space only. If you'd like a workshop taught by the Digital Initiatives Librarian, please use the Research Workshop Request form.
Data Visualization Lab Reservation
To reserve the data visualization lab for one of your classes or for students to drop in and work on individual projects. Note: This form is for the space only. If you'd like a workshop taught by the Digital Initiatives Librarian, please use the Research Workshop Request form.
Innovation Studio Reservation
To reserve the innovation studio for one of your classes or for students to drop in and work on individual projects. Note: This form is for the space only. If you'd like a workshop taught by the Digital Initiatives Librarian, please use the Research Workshop Request form.

Resources

Course Reserves
For putting a book in the library collections or provided by you on short term loan at the Library Service Desk in order to provide equitable access to students.
Research Software Purchase
If there are titles that are integral to your research and instruction that you'd like the library to either purchase additional licenses for use in one of the labs or purchase instructional aids for our library collection.
