Writing Prompts

Written documents can give researchers great insight into historical events, and creating one will allow you to tell your story in your own words. If you want to send in a write-up of your experiences but aren't sure where to begin, we've provided a number of prompts to help you get started. You can use these as daily prompts for a journal/diary, you can answer a handful of questions, or you can respond to just one question and send it in. It's all up to you! There is no right or wrong way to do this.

You can submit your responses in a variety of formats: a Word document, a Google Document, a PDF, or an RTF. There is no minimum or maximum length requirement for the responses, and don't feel pressured to write in an academic voice. We want to hear about your everyday experiences, so we encourage you to be as candid as you feel comfortable with.

These prompts are just ideas to get you started- you're welcome to write about anything you'd like (as long, of course, as it's related to COVID-19). We've divided them into General, Students, and Faculty and Staff, but feel free to answer any question that's relevant to you!

Also, these don't necessarily have to be answered in a text format. You can also answer these prompts by submitting an audio or video recording of you discussing your responses.
